Thanks for the award!
The City of San Francisco and Stop Urban Blight hosted the 1st Annual Zero Graffiti International conference and awards program in January at which they presented me with the GRAFFITI FIGHTER AWARD. My new book was credited with elevating the national conversation about the strategies and techniques used for the control and prevention of graffiti vandalism. Traditional approaches just don't stop graffiti vandalism. We need preventative education to slow the growth in graffiti vandalism. Preview the book at Amazon.com. Now only 14.99.

As I argue in this video clip, traditional approaches to graffiti control just don't work. How can we ever stop graffiti vandalism when kids view it as harmless, fun, interesting and a matter of self expression? See the video. Preview the book at Amazon.com.

What is graffiti?
Is there such a thing as "graffiti art" done by "graffiti artists"? People refer to graffiti style or aerosol murals as graffiti art. However, sanctioned murals such as this indoor artwork at Denver International Airport done by David Choe are not graffiti. Graffiti is uninvited and unauthorized.
"DEFACING AMERICA - The Rise of Graffiti Vandalism" helps us understand that we don't have an art problem in America, and around the world. We have a vandalism problem, and we can take many steps to reduce or eliminate graffiti crimes. Get the book for yourself, or donate a copy to your local library. Greater community awareness and understanding of this costly problem will help us stop graffiti crime.
